The BC TESOL Professional Development Fund was established in 2015 to provide financial assistance to teachers wishing to pursue training in teaching speakers of other languages.

Description

The BC TESOL Professional Development Fund is specifically targeted to help individual teachers pursue additional qualifications in TESOL pedagogy. It is open to BC TESOL members to help pay for courses or focused professional development opportunities, such as fee-based online webinar.

Criteria

All applicants must be members of BC TESOL currently working with English language learners in the public school system in British Columbia.

Amount and Awarding of Fund

The BC TESOL Fund is valued at $ 250.00. The fund may be awarded twice in a calendar year. Each BC TESOL member is eligible for one amount of $250 in a calendar year. The funds are allocated on a first come, first served basis, with consideration of need and merit.

Application Procedure

  • Applicants need to provide a brief description of their current teaching duties and how the proposed course or professional development opportunity will be of benefit to them as a professional and to their teaching community.
  • Applicants need to provide proof of membership to the BC TESOL PSA.
  • Applicants must submit proof of registration for preliminary approval.
  • The recipient must write a short informative article to share his/her learning with the BC TESOL membership to be published in the BC TESOL newsletter.
